CyberCab EPA specs revealed, Goldman Sachs raises Q2 delivery forecast

Sources (4)

CyberCab's EPA certification filing discloses measured specifications for the first time: a 47.6 kWh battery, 1,412 kg kerb weight, a single 219-horsepower motor driving the front wheels and an EPA combined range of 418 miles (about 293 miles adjusted).

It is hard evidence that the car has gone from concept to something that can be mass-produced, in line with the target of volume production by the end of 2026. Separately, Goldman Sachs raised its Q2 delivery forecast to 420,000 vehicles (consensus about 400,000) on strong European sales, but kept its Neutral rating and $375 target. That supports the view that the delivery beat is driven mainly by inventory clearance and promotions, and that gross margin quality is questionable.

Analyst views

Goldman Sachs's Mark Delaney: Q2 deliveries are 'likely tracking ahead of consensus'. He raised his forecast to 420K but kept a Neutral rating and $375 target (8.8% downside). Barclays had earlier also pointed to a beat.

Key evidence

  • The EPA certification filing (test group TTSLV00.0L1A) shows CyberCab's measured battery is only 47.6 kWh, smaller than the 57.5 kWh in the rear-wheel-drive Model 3
  • CyberCab has a single front-mounted 163 kW motor (219 horsepower) in a front-wheel-drive layout
  • Kerb weight is just 3,113 lbs (about 1,412 kg). Two seats and no primary driving controls.
  • Unadjusted EPA combined range of 418.2 miles, which becomes about 293 miles after the 0.7 adjustment factor
  • In a 16 Jun note, Goldman Sachs's Mark Delaney raised his Q2 delivery forecast to 420,000 vehicles (from 405,000), mainly because of strong European sales
  • Goldman kept its Neutral rating and $375 target unchanged (about 8.8% downside from the current price of about $411)

  • The third outside confirmation of a Q2 delivery beat, after Barclays (beat) and the weekly Reddit report (+28% YoY)
  • Polymarket gives a 67.1% probability of Q2 deliveries in the 425k-475k range
  • Intraday high of $412.42 on 16 Jun, now about $405, still -10% YTD

Catalysts to watch

  • CyberCab volume-production target for the end of 2026: EPA certification is a key milestone
  • Tesla Q2 earnings on 22 Jul: a test of whether the delivery beat comes with gross margin quality
  • A CyberCab priced under $30K, plus Robotaxi unit economics, as an overwhelming advantage over Uber and Waymo

Risks

  • The delivery beat is driven mainly by inventory clearance and promotions, so gross margin quality is questionable. The market is unwilling to pay a premium for volume (Goldman raising its delivery forecast but not its target confirms this).
  • Whether the Robotaxi unit-economics narrative is realised depends on FSD and Autopilot regulation and on actual operating costs
