Every dollar in Tesla today is a bet on how far its cars drive between serious mistakes.

Tesla just had one of its worst months on the stock market in a year: down more than a quarter, below three hundred dollars, near a one-year low. In the very same stretch, its self-driving cars had their best year yet.
